Barry University recognizes that true change, growth, and leadership come when our internal resources are leveraged for maximum impact. As a result, the University pursues various funding opportunities from federal, state, local government, and private corporations and foundations. More specifically, the CARE Center seeks grants that support the University’s mission to serve under resourced and underrepresented populations.
The CARE Center currently offers the following grant funded programs:
- Community of Healthy, Active, Motivated, Positive Students (C.H.A.M.P.S.) - The overall goal of the program is to equip youth with social, emotional and cognitive skills that promote personal and academic success so that they are can develop into C.H.A.M.P.S.. Barry University’s C.H.A.M.P.S. Program is funded by The Children’s Trust. The Children’s Trust is a dedicated source of revenue established by voter referendum to improve the lives of children and families in Miami-Dade County.
- College Reach-Out Program (C.R.O.P.) - provides academic and psychosocial supportive services to educationally and economically disadvantaged students in grades 6 through 12 that motivates and prepares them to attend college and complete their postsecondary education.
