When: November 15, 2022 | 12:00PM – 2:00PM
November is National Black Catholic History Month. During this month, we recognize the men and women from African Diaspora who pioneered the Catholic faith. Please join Barry University’s College of Arts and Sciences and the Africana Studies Program as we honor this time with a special hybrid event. On November 15th, we will be hosting UBUNTU: We’ve Come This Far by Faiths.
“Ubuntu” is the African Diaspora concept that was used during the South African Truth and Reconciliation testimonies. The term means “my life is inextricably linked to your life.” The event will feature Sister Jamie Phelps, Dr. Charlene Désir and Dr. Pamela D. Hall. Each panelist will discuss Black Catholicism and frame it alongside survival strategies of enslaved people in the Caribbean and the Americas.
Light Refreshments will be served.
