Why did you choose Barry?
In addition to receiving Barry’s prestigious Stamps Scholarship, I was warmly welcomed into its vibrant multicultural student community, where I had the opportunity to forge lifelong friendships and create cherished memories. As a small, close-knit institution, Barry fosters an environment that nurtures individuality and encourages personal growth. From engaging academic discussions to diverse cultural celebrations, every aspect of campus life enriches the student experience. I was eager to immerse myself in all that this beautiful campus had to offer, knowing it would shape me both academically and personally.
Why am I a student ambassador?
Barry has played a pivotal role in my personal and professional growth, and the leader I am today is largely a result of the invaluable training and mentorship provided by its supportive community and dedicated faculty. Wanting to give back to the institution that has given me so much, I sought a meaningful way to share my love for Barry. Becoming an ambassador allowed me to do just that—serving as a guide for students navigating the college process and offering them insight into the wealth of opportunities Barry provides for their personal, academic, and spiritual development.
Tips for someone searching for the right college?
Look for the college that chooses you. The one that calls out to your spirit the most, the one with the atmosphere and resources that you've always envisioned for yourself.
Service opportunity that you've participated in?
During the spring of my sophomore year, I had the privilege of participating in an annual mission trip with Barry’s School of Podiatric Medicine—the only podiatric medical school in the state of Florida. As a student medic, I dedicated weeks before the trip training alongside medical students, learning how to efficiently assess and manage patients with foot and ankle diseases and disabilities. This experience was incredibly rewarding, allowing me to contribute to a meaningful cause while also gaining valuable hands-on experience to strengthen my graduate school application. Over the course of a week, our team provided free healthcare services, medical supplies, and heartfelt care to more than 1,100 Bahamian citizens. The impact of this mission was profound, and without hesitation, I would embark on another international mission trip in the future.
