Biography

Dr.Chandra completed his undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore, India. He obtained his Master of Science in Biology from Wageningen Agricultural University, Netherlands. He developed a genetics map of honeybees while at The Ohio State University, Columbus where he earned his Ph.D. degree. For a couple of years, Chandra did his post-doctoral training in genetics at the University of California, Davis. Then he joined Roosevelt University in Chicago as a faculty member, where he was a tenured Associate Professor of Genetics for 12 years, and also served as the Coordinator for the Bioinformatics Graduate Program. During this time, he collaborated extensively with private research biotech industries in the Chicago area as well as medical institutions in India. He also held an Administrative Fellowship position in the Provost's Office at Roosevelt University. Dr. Chandra is a successful dynamic academic leader known for hard work, creative vision, honesty, and ability to motivate wide array of people. He has an active research interest in Genetics, Bioinformatics and Medical Science (Anesthesiology). He has published over 50 articles in various biomedical peer-reviewed journals and presented his research at international conferences in the United States and around the world. He was recognized with "Outstanding Scholarship" certificate of professional development at Barry University from 2015 through 2020. He was the recipient of the "David W. Fulker Award" for the best paper published in the Journal of Behavior Genetics and the "W. Fred Hink Research Award" from The Ohio State University. Dr. Chandra was also the recipient of an "Honorary Bronze Award" for his outstanding co-curricular contributions to the student community from Roosevelt University and the "Best Service Award" for his excellent assistance to the Biology Department from The Ohio State University.
