Biography

Nicole Stodard, Ph.D. is an Adjunct Professor of Theatre at Barry University. She is a theatre artist, educator, and scholar. She holds a Master's degree in Theatre from Trinity College, Dublin, and a PhD in English Literature with a specialization in drama from the University of South Florida (USF). Her research areas include early modern drama; experimental theatre; feminist and LGBTQ issues in theatre history and contemporary practice; and Aphra Behn, the first professional female playwright. Nicole has published articles and reviews in journals such as Restoration and 18th Century Theatre Research and Shakespeare Bulletin. Nicole also works as a professional director and is a Full Member of the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers. Her distinctions for direction and design include several Carbonell Nominations for Best Director of a Play, Best Sound Design, and Best Costume Design; two Silver Palm Awards for Best Direction; and three NEW TIMES “Best Director” Awards. Her current book project theorizes the origins of the "Glass Curtain" metaphor in professional theatre.
