We are an NCAA Division II school and a member of the Sunshine State Conference with 12 varsity teams, including men's baseball, basketball, golf, soccer and tennis; and women's basketball, golf, rowing, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball. So far, we've won 24 NCAA championships, had 338 All-Americans, 413 Scholar All-Americans, and nine NCAA "Women of the Year" finalists, the most of any Division II school. Not bad at all, but we're going for more.
Associate Professor and DSW Director
Dr. Shtompel’s expertise is in Yoga and mindfulness for disease prevention and health promotion, gerontology, healthy aging and cognitive vitality, and access to healthcare in older adults.
Natalia Shtompel, Ph.D., LCSW, MA, is an Associate Professor at Barry University School of Social Work. She teaches at undergraduate, Master’s, and Doctoral levels, including psychopathology, human development, neurobiology, trauma, evaluation, and research courses. Dr. Shtompel is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Informed Yoga, and is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200). In addition to teaching and a private practice, Dr. Shtompel serves as the Chair of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Aging Section Committee and a volunteer counselor with the Alliance for Aging (Miami, FL). Dr. Shtompel regularly presents on Yoga, mindfulness, aging, and related topics at professional conferences and community events.
