Biography

Dr. Lee Goldberg Is Adjunct Professor of Medical Education on the Principal Faculty in Barry University’s PA Program in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences and teaches also in the School of Podiatry Dr. Goldberg graduated from Yale College with a BS summa cum laude with Honors with Exceptional Distinction in Mathematics and Zoology and High Orations. He was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and Sigma Xi. He was awarded the following mathematics prizes in college: the Barge Prize in freshman year, the Barge prize in sophomore year, the Stanley Prize in junior year, and the DeForest Prize in senior year. Other mathematics awards include a New Jersey State Mathematics Day Certificate of Excellence, Pi Mu Epsilon Mathematics Contest Silver Medal, ranking 2nd in the state of New Jersey, Mathematical Association of America Award for ranking 16th in the US, Canada, and Scotland among 17,500 contestants, and then a Mathematical Association of America award for ranking 7th in the US, Canada, and Scotland among 23,000 contestants. Dr Goldberg graduated from the Yale University School of Medicine. After a rotating internship at Mt Sinai Hospital of New York, Dr Goldberg served as a medical officer in the U.S. Navy. He then was a medical resident at Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx, NY. After completion of that training, he had a USPHS Clinical Research Fellowship in Endocrinology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, NY, and subsequently a Fellowship in Clinical Endocrinology at Bellevue Hospital, NY. Aside from being a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners, Dr Goldberg is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is certified also in the subspecialty of endocrinology. From 1974 to 1993 he was Co-Chief of Endocrinology at Mt Sinai Hospital of Greater Miami and then the Chief of Endocrinology until leaving clinical practice to go into teaching at Barry. Dr Goldberg’s biography appears in Who’s Who in America. In addition to multiple lectures to physicians, nurses, and lay people, Dr Goldberg has published more than a dozen items in endocrine journals and general medical journals. He has held multiple administrative positions without remuneration at various Miami hospitals. Dr. Goldberg is a member of the American College of Physicians (Fellowship), the American Diabetes Association (formerly on the Board of Directors of the Miami chapter), the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, the American College of Endocrinology (Fellowship), and the Endocrine Society. With a strong interest in the teaching of students, Dr Goldberg maintains an intense interest in seeing not only that students learn HOW to do things, but also that they understand WHY.
