Biography

Dr. Jose M. Pombo has been with Barry University since 2018. First, in the capacity of Adjunct Professor teaching first year writing and rhetoric courses to freshman and then as a Visiting Instructor in English. Additionally, he also tutors Barry students both in the Reading and Writing Centers. Previously, Dr. Pombo worked as a teacher educator for the Teaching and Learning Department at Florida International University teaching Social Studies methodology courses to third- and fourth-year pre-service teachers. Additionally, he reorganized and managed Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus’ Writing Center for several years. Dr. Pombo possesses a B.A in History, a Master’s and Doctoral degree in Curriculum and Instruction. As part of his doctoral research, he created an organizational framework for contextual or document analysis called the HPST Framework. Dr. Pombo has published several articles: chiefly among them is the HPST Framework: Learning About Iran through Historical Inquiry for Students. He has been invited to speak about his research at Cambridge and Oxford Universities, among others.
