Biography

Prior to joining Barry University during the 2018-2019 academic year, Professor Buhi taught for four years at the Peking University School of Transnational Law in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China. He there instructed courses in U.S. constitutional law, comparative constitutional law, and Hong Kong-China legal relations. Professor Buhi was first introduced to China as a Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholar in 2007, and earned his Ph.D. from the University of Hong Kong in 2017. Professor Buhi’s scholarly interests include the division of national power, the practice of subnational autonomy, voting rights, freedom of assembly, and human rights. He has consulted on election law issues in Hong Kong and Vietnam, and instructed constitutional law seminars at Nirma University in Ahmedabad, India, and Northwest University of Politics and Law in Xi’an, China. He is a member of the Maryland and Washington D.C. bar associations as well as the International Society of Public Law.
