Biography

Dr. Collins is an Associate Professor and the Director of Curricular Innovation and Accreditation for the CNHS. She received her BSN from Niagara University in New York and a dual MSN in Community Health and Adult-Geriatric Primary Care, as well as a DNSc. and a Ph.D. in Nursing Science, from The Catholic University of America in Washington D.C. Dr. Collins is an experienced educator of advanced practice nurses at the MSN, DNP, and PhD levels. She is proficient in the development and evaluation of curricula for graduate nursing programs, including distance/online learning. She has been a program coordinator for five MSN/DNP NP programs, as well as the Executive Leadership DNP and Clinical Nurse Leader MSN programs. Dr. Collins has been an innovator and consultant for Adult/Geriatric DNP programs across a variety of Universities. In the clinical area, Dr. Collins has served as the Director of Nursing Education for a major medical center, an adjunct professor to nursing and medical colleges, a Supervisory Nurse Consultant to Federal Healthcare Programs and Clinics, a Nurse Consultant to the Division of Nursing (HHS), a practicing Adult-Gerontology NP, and a decorated veteran officer of the U.S. Air Force Nurse Corps. In addition to teaching a variety of theory courses at the graduate level, Dr. Collins has delivered over 60 professional presentations and workshops, journals and book chapters. She is also a past board member of Sigma Theta Tau, and The American Nurse Credentialing Center. She currently serves on peer review committees for international and national journals and conferences. Dr. Collins has HRSA and VA grant writing experience. Her areas of research include health promotion and familial support for an aging population, as well as methodologies for teaching, curriculum development and evaluation. Dr. Collins is a site visitor and nursing program consultant for institutions seeking CCNE national accreditation.
