Biography

Born in Havana, Cuba, Dr. Fernandez completed his graduate studies at the Instituto Superior de Ciencias Medicas de La Habana, University of Havana, graduating as a Doctor in Medicine in 1979. After practicing general medicine, he completed his residency in neurosurgery (1981-1984) at the Instituto de Neurologia y Neurocirugia and Hospital General Calixto Garcia in Havana, Cuba. Since his arrival to the USA in 1992, Dr. Fernandez has taught in different undergraduate and graduate programs at Barry University and Nova Southeastern University. A full time faculty at Barry University since 1997, Dr. Fernandez joined the Barry Anesthesiology faculty in 1998. He teaches Pathophysiology I, Pathophysiology II, and Pathophysiology III.
