Biography

Anna Leimberg is an adjunct instructor in the Department of Sociology and Criminology at Barry University. She is also a Ph.D. candidate and adjunct instructor in the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Florida International Unversity (FIU). She is expected to graduate with her Ph.D. in International Crime and Justice from FIU in April of 2021 after the successful defense of her dissertation titled, “Mediators and Moderators of the Associations between Unstructured Socializing with Peers, Substance Use, and Handgun Carrying Among Adolescents." She holds a B.S. in Sociology from Barry University and an M.S in Criminal Justice from FIU. Her research interests include domestic violence, unstructured socializing with peers, antisocial behavior, adolescent drug use, and youth handgun carrying. Her recent publications appear in the Journal of Drug Issues, International Journal of Offender Therapy & Comparative Criminology, and Crime & Delinquency. Her teaching interests include criminal justice policy, human trafficking, race and crime, drugs and crime, juvenile delinquency, and white-collar crime.
