
Biography
Sanja Zivanovic embarked on a journey as a student-athlete, dedicating four years to Barry's women's basketball team. Graduating in 2004, she earned a Bachelor of Science in mathematics and computer science. Following her undergraduate studies, she pursued further education at the University of Miami, where she spent five years earning a Master’s degree in 2006 and a Ph.D. in mathematics in 2009.
After completing a year-and-a-half-long postdoctoral position at the National Research Center for Mathematics and Computer Science in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, Sanja returned to Barry University as an Assistant Professor of Mathematics. Over the span of 11 years, she taught a variety of undergraduate mathematics courses, conducted research alongside undergraduate students, and contributed significantly to the department as Assistant Chair.
During her tenure, Sanja played a pivotal role in establishing a minor and a specialization in Data Analytics. In May 2022, she transitioned to the industry, assuming the role of Head of Data Analytics at AlphaStaff, an HR outsourcing company, where she continues to excel in her career.
