Local physician Inaki Bent was raised in Miami by Haitian parents who emigrated in the ‘70s. His father was a taxi driver, and his mother was a nurse’s aide at Jackson Memorial Hospital where, coincidentally, Inaki was born. The first college graduate and physician in his family, Inaki received his BS from Florida State University and a Master of Biomedical Science from Barry University. He went on to Nova Southeastern University and received a Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine and an MBA in 2010. Inaki returned to Jackson Memorial to complete his residency in internal medicine.
Currently serving as an attending physician with Jackson Health System and associate medical director of My Home Doctor, LLC, Inaki also has academic appointments at Florida International University and Nova Southeastern.
Inaki’s personal interests include mentoring, community organizing, motivational speaking and medical outreach. He is a founder and president of MEDIQUES, a 501(c)3 organization whose mission is to mentor and facilitate the education of minority students interested in careers in medicine, dentistry and veterinary medicine. Inaki's passion and expertise were recognized in 2015 when he was awarded "Top Healthcare Professional of South Florida" by Legacy Magazine. He is married with six children.
