Most programs require a $30 nonrefundable application fee. This fee is waived for Barry alumni or those referred by Barry alumni.

Transcripts
You must submit complete official transcripts from every college or university attended, regardless of whether or not a degree was completed. If you previously attended Barry University, you do not need to re-submit any transcripts already on file. Submission of transcripts required by the Office of Graduate Admissions may be waived at the discretion of the Dean of the College/School offering the applicant’s program.
Transcripts must be in an official envelope sealed by the institution issuing the transcript. Transcripts in envelopes which are opened are not considered official.
International credentials from an educational system other than the United States must be evaluated by a foreign credential evaluator who is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). The evaluation must be “course-by-course with GPA,” and sent directly from the evaluating agency to Barry University. For a list of NACES members, please visit www.naces.org/members.htm.
Although you may use any NACES member agency, these two agencies provide a specific application designed for Barry students:
Statement of Purpose
Submit a statement of purpose (goals) or career narrative statement as required by the specific school.
Recommendations
Provide the required recommendations in support of graduate study. Recommendations must be on either the Barry University recommendation form or official letterhead from the recommending institution.
Test Scores
Supply current admission entrance examination scores (EAT, GMAT, GRE, LSAT, MAT, MCAT), as required by the individual school or program. In general, test scores older than five years will not be accepted.
Other Documents
Submit any additional information required by the Office of Graduate Admissions or the individual school or program. Upon receipt of your application, you will be notified of any documents needed to complete your file.
Permanent Resident Status (“Green Card”)
If you have permanent resident status, a copy of both sides of your Alien Registration Receipt Card ("green card") must be submitted to the Office of Graduate Admissions.
English Proficiency
Applicants who do not give evidence of being native English speakers, including those applying for transfer from U.S. institutions, or who have not graduated from an institution where English is the primary language of instruction must submit test scores from one of the English language proficiency tests accepted by Barry University:
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): paper-based and internet-based test (iBT)
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
- Duolingo English Test
- Pearson PTE Academic
The English proficiency requirement may be waived for applicants with a minimum of 24 college-level academic credits earned from an institution in which English is the basis of instruction and classroom interaction.
English Proficiency Tests Accepted by Barry University
May be admitted to Barry University and enrolled in undergraduate-level academic classes:
- TOEFL internet-based: 79 or higher
- TOEFL paper based: 550 or higher
- IELTS: 6.5 or higher
- Duolingo English Test: 95 or higher
- PTE Academic Score: 53
Must improve English proficiency before being admitted into a undergraduate-level program in Barry University:
- TOEFL internet-based: 78 or below
- TOEFL paper based: 549 or below
- IELTS: 6.4 or below
- Duolingo English Test: 94 or below
- PTE Academic Score: 52 or below
IMPORTANT: The minimum acceptable score may be higher for some programs.
Intensive English instruction is offered at Barry University through the ELS Language Center. Students who complete Master's level 112 at the ELS Language Center are not required to sit for the TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo English Test, or PTE Academic examinations. Students who wish to study in the ELS Language Center prior to applying for an academic program should visit:
