Barry University’s School of Social Work has partnered with Miami Dade College to offer the 2+2 Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program. This allows you to earn your associate’s degree at Miami Dade College, and transition seamlessly to the Social Work program at Barry in order to complete your bachelor’s degree. Depending on the number of transfer credits accepted, you could complete your social work degree at Barry within two academic years.

Barry University has plenty of financial aid opportunities with 90 percent of Barry students qualifying for financial aid. Accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, Barry’s Bachelor of Social Work Program features a committed faculty that wants to get to know you and help you achieve your goals. Our small class sizes allow you to learn in an engaging environment and receive personal attention. You will participate in an internship allowing you to gain individualized field placement experience. With a focus on social issues and advocacy, we also offer opportunities for students to work with our Center for Human Rights and Social Justice.

Earn your Master's in Social Work

If you are also interested in pursuing a Master of Social Work, the 2+2 program will allow you to transition seamlessly from our Bachelor of Social Work to the Master of Social Work program. You will be able to complete your bachelor’s degree, as well as earn a master’s degree in an additional seven months.

Barry University’s Master of Social Work Program is an advanced clinical program featuring a trauma-informed, resiliency-focused framework. Our small class sizes foster an engaging learning environment with personal attention from distinguished faculty for all students. You can explore different areas of expertise with over 250 field education internship opportunities. The program also offers scholarship opportunities through our Center for Human Rights and Social Justice, tuition parity, which allows out-of-state students to pay in-state rates, and a part-time 16-month program option.

A Bachelor's degree in Social Work from an accredited Council on Social Work Education program and a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA in all undergraduate social work courses is required to be eligible to apply.

How to Apply

If you are interested in coming to Barry University’s School of Social Work to complete your bachelor’s degree, you should submit your application two semesters before you plan to attend. For example, if you plan to start in the fall, you should submit your application in the preceding spring or summer semesters.
