The program provides for internships (Clinical Experiences) at many hospital and clinical affiliate sites throughout Florida. During the internship phase of the program, students receive comprehensive, practical experience to prepare them for the certification exam.
Important: Participation in the Clinical Experience is a required part of the curriculum for all specialization programs and a requirement for graduation. Students must be able to provide their own transportation to the clinical site and may be asked to relocate during the internship phase. Clinical sites may require a drug, criminal, and/or child abuse background check in order to permit participation in the program's clinical experience. Clinical sites may deny a student's participation in the clinical experience because of a felony or misdemeanor conviction, failure of a required drug test, or inability to produce an appropriate health clearance, which would result in delayed graduation or in the inability to graduate from the program. Individuals who have been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor may be denied certification or licensure as a health professional. Information regarding individual eligibility may be obtained from the appropriate credentialing bodies. Health exams, immunizations, drug screening and background checks will be done at the student's expense. The University maintains liability insurance for each student entering the Clinical Experience at affiliate sites.
Please note that certification agencies may change the qualifying requirements; it is the student’s obligation to meet those requirements.
