About the Program Doctor of Education in Transformational School Leadership
The Doctor of Education in Transformational School Leadership program prepares you to assume leadership positions and serve as a change agent within your own institution and neighboring communities. A transformational leader creates positive momentum in the way we live and work together; providing a collaborative invitation to develop a set of beliefs and a vision for how we perceive and make sense of the world, promote social justice, equity and drive desired outcomes.
You will be exposed to a comprehensive core curriculum in areas such as leadership theories, organizational change, team building and organizational learning. Within this context, you will learn about research methods and their application as they discuss social, economic and political issues affecting schools and learning communities. This accelerated, 60-credit program culminates in a dissertation in practice, which means solving a real-world problem of practice in your school/learning community.
Effective transformational school leaders collaborate with teachers as internal stakeholders, as well as learning community members, to create platforms for open dialogue and continuous improvement.
You will build a community with other students through a myriad of activities -- presentations, discussions and reflection – so that you can develop sustainable change efforts in your own school learning communities.
Our student-teacher ratio is small so you always receive personal attention from our distinguished faculty. From your first semester through the completion of your dissertation, your faculty mentors take a keen interest in your professional development.
