Program Overview MS in Reading
The Master of Science in reading program empowers you to guide students with reading difficulties by providing hands-on and practical skills that can lead to career advancement. The program is state approved and meets the requirements of the Florida reading certification. This certification has reciprocity with several states. Current Florida certification credentials are required for admission to the MS in reading program.
In the MS in reading program, you will study the foundations of reading instruction, teaching language arts, reading diagnosis and remediation, research-based reading- and study-skill strategies, and reading in specific content areas and age groups. Embedded practice provides valuable field experience prior to earning your degree. Although this is a non-certification program, you can take the state certification exam after graduation.
The MS in reading program enables you to prepare for literacy leadership roles at the school, community, and district levels.

Distinct Instruction
Experienced full-time faculty teach all courses. You will explore with each professor the foundations and theories of reading instruction. You will participate in a supervised practicum while forming strong relationships with a mentoring faculty. -
Online Option
You can earn the MS in reading online. The coursework is taught by the same dedicated faculty who teach on campus. You can complete your degree in as few as 18 months. -
