That means you will graduate from a business school that meets the standards of distinguished programs worldwide and provides every qualification to ensure your success as a business leader. You will grow and learn from highly experienced, accessible faculty only — not teaching assistants — in a classroom with an average of 20 fellow students.

The School offers a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) which allows you to choose from six different majors including Accounting, Finance, International Business, Management, or Marketing. 

In addition, a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management is offered, preparing students for work in a variety of sport, recreation, and health promotion areas. 

The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in accounting prepares students for careers in auditing, corporate accounting, management consulting, governmental and not-for-profit organizations, and taxation. It equips the prospective business executive with tools for intelligent analysis, planning, control, and decision making. Graduates of this program have and will continue to be among the leaders of the profession and the worldwide business community. The accounting curriculum provides an excellent background for the student who wishes to pursue graduate work in business, public administration or law. Because this curriculum is highly structured and courses must be taken in a certain order, interested students should select this major as soon as possible in order to graduate within four years.

Accounting graduates who meet the requirements of the State Board of Public Accountancy of Florida are eligible to sit for the Uniform CPA Examination in Florida. Most states (including Florida) require accounting professionals who wish to be licensed as Certified Public Accountants to complete 150 semester hours of education. Those who wish to engage in public accounting practice in Florida as certified public accountants should familiarize themselves with the rules and regulations issued by the Florida State Board of Public Accountancy. Students planning to practice outside Florida should consult the CPA board in their intended state of residence (call 1-800-CPA-EXAM for additional information).

The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in finance prepares students for careers in corporate finance, investments, commercial and investment banking, international finance, government finance, insurance and real estate. The study of finance provides students with both the theoretical background and the analytical tools required to make effective, value creating business decisions.

As businesses operate in increasingly competitive global environments, and as individuals and institutions seek investments on a global scale, the core fundamental principles of finance and their applications become of greater value and importance.

The global economy is a reality, and global trade and investment are growing at unprecedented rates.  The International Business major is ideally suited for students eager to embark on careers in international business as well as those who prefer to focus their efforts on domestic markets.   Barry’s International Business majors will gain solid business knowledge and skills as well as the ability to understand and manage the complexities inherent in the international marketplace.  Our location in Miami, a recognized international business center and home to people of many different cultures, affords International Business majors numerous options to see and directly participate in international business ventures.  Truly, there is no better place than Miami to experience international business!

Completing the International Business major will prepare students for exciting careers in corporate, entrepreneurial, and public sector environments as well as with multilateral institutions.  Past graduates now have successful careers in international marketing, research & analysis, finance, trade, supply chain management, planning, and operations.  The International Business major is also an excellent choice for students planning to attend graduate programs such as law, international relations, and public policy where the understanding of the international marketplace and global institutions is important.

International Business majors are encouraged to select a double major within the School of Business (e.g., marketing, finance, etc.) or a minor from another School (e.g. public relations, computer science) to deepen their knowledge of a functional area to assist them in obtaining their first post-graduation positions.

Several aspects of the International Business major differentiate it from other majors, including:

Internships:International Business majors have the unique opportunity to gain relevant, practical work experience prior to graduation through the program’s required international and domestic internships.

Foreign Language:  All International Business majors must demonstrate proficiency in a foreign language (either by completing 12 credits of foreign language coursework or by successfully passing a language proficiency exam).

Study Abroad:International Business majors are encouraged to study abroad during their sophomore or junior year to broaden their international knowledge and experience base.  The School of Business works through the College Consortium for International Studies (CCIS) to provide many study abroad opportunities and has partnerships with business schools in Europe. 

The management degree program is designed to accommodate a variety of students' career interests. It offers students preparation for entry into corporate management training positions, human resource management positions, and management of entrepreneurial ventures. 

Students learn managerial leadership skills in courses that concern themselves not only with the broad aspects of management and organization but also with developing cutting-edge skills for dealing with problems of motivation, organization design, and the increasingly complex issues of human resource allocation in today's multicultural world.

The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Marketing prepares you for a career in marketing, sales, and marketing research. The marketing major focuses on the study of all activities required to determine which products and services are most desired by consumers as well as how to design and implement programs to efficiently communicate and distribute products and services.

Marketing students learn to make decisions about product design and quality, pricing, advertising, channels of distribution, and personal selling in ways to enhance consumer satisfaction and further the goals of the company or organization.

Bachelor's degree in Sport Management and Business Administration will prepare you for a broad range of careers and enable you to focus on your particular area of interest, such as sport administration, sport marketing, or risk management.

The bachelor's program in Sport Management and Business Administration at Barry offers distinct advantages:

Solid preparation. The program combines thirty credits in Sport Management with thirty credits in business core courses like Organizational Behavior and Management, Marketing, Accounting, Managerial Finance, Information Systems, etc. This not only prepares you for a job in sport, it also opens many career paths in the world of business, which increases your marketability.

Career Opportunities. South Florida's ideal climate and extraordinary array of sport venues coupled with our contacts in the local sport industry provide you with incomparable internship placements and year-round access to a variety of sport-related activities.

Experienced Faculty. Professors who possess strong academic credentials and experience in the field and who are committed to helping you to achieve your professional goals.

The Sport Management program requires a total of 120 credit-hours.

You may want to be a part of the business school, but you don’t exactly want to make it a full-time priority. You can minor in one of our specializations, and this can be a great option for you.

Keep in mind that you must complete all courses with a C or better, and no more than 6 credits can be transferred over from another university into the Andreas School of Business.

Students who are pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree in any of the majors in the Andreas School of Business with 24 or more credits completed are advised by faculty members and the Assistant Dean.

Undergraduate Academic Advising (UAA) in the Andreas School of Business plays its part in making the missions of Barry University and the Andreas School of Business a reality for students. 

UAA assists in fulfilling the University's mission, particularly the objectives of providing a quality education in a caring environment. In addition, UAA is also guided by the goals of the Andreas School of Business, especially, the enabling of students to become successful business practitioners.

Barry University offers a variety of Study Abroad options. You can choose to study in a partner institution at a foreign country and receive college credit for it. Studying abroad can be an exceptional experience, and there are some many places that are available to students.

Dr. Katherine Nelson, Director of Study Abroad, provides the information that you need to plan the learning trip of your choice that will ultimately change your life in a positive way. Studying abroad opens your mind and exposes you to different ways of life

To participate in study abroad, students have to fulfill the requirements of the Study Abroad program chosen and be in good standing.

After meeting with the Director of Study Abroad, School of Business students must meet with the Assistant Dean of the School of Business to discuss how the study abroad experience is best accommodated within their academic program. Students can only participate in a pre-approved Study Abroad program to obtain transfer credit.

The goal of Career Development Center is to encourage each student to take personal responsibility to utilize the center’s services to develop his or her career planning skills from freshman through senior year and beyond.
