Department of Physical Sciences Gamma Sigma Epsilon National Chemistry Honor Society

Barry University has a chapter of Gamma Sigma Epsilon National Chemistry Honor Society that recognizes students who have outstanding academic achievement in chemistry courses at Barry (3.00 GPA after 16 credits in chemistry and 3.00 overall GPA).

Scholarships for Chemistry Majors

Department of Physical Sciences

Each Fall and Spring semester, junior and senior chemistry majors are awarded scholarships ($500 - $1,500) based on academic achievement and financial need. Recipients of the award will be presented with a certificate during the end-of-semester department party. Applications are available online, on the Wiegand 148 (Computer Room) door as well as from the department secretary, Ms. Beth Culverson (Wiegand 121, (305) 899-3435, e-mail: bculverson@barry.edu).

American Chemical Society Scholars Program

The American Chemical Society Scholars Program awards scholarships valued at up to $5000.00 per academic year to underrepresented students with excellent academic records and financial need who are pursuing studies in the chemical sciences. The ACS Scholars Program accepts applications in February for the following academic year. Application forms and instructions can be downloaded from the web site acs.org, by e-mail to scholars@acs.org, by calling 1-800-227-5558, ext. 6250, or by writing to American Chemical Society Scholars Program, 1155 16th Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20036. The deadline for application is March 1. Approximately 100 new scholarships will be awarded.
