Master of Science in Clinical Psychology

The Clinical Psychology (MS) program will provide you with quality academic instruction, research experience, and supervised clinical training at a variety of mental health centers. At Barry University, we focus on training students to master the traditional clinical skills of evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment. The theoretical orientation of the program is eclectic.

All graduate courses in the Department of Psychology at Barry University are offered in the evening to accommodate working professionals.

Field placement/internship courses (PSY 665 and PSY 675), which occur near the completion of training, require daytime availability.

The Clinical Psychology Practicum is an introduction to clinical activity and requires eight hours per week of supervised clinical work in a mental health setting for one semester. The Clinical Psychology Internship is a 1,000 hour, supervised clinical experience that allows for the development of more advanced clinical skills.

Clinical psychology students conduct an empirical study for their master’s theses. Our students regularly submit their research for publication and presentation at state, regional, national, and international conferences. 

The College of Arts and Sciences and the Psychology Department provide financial support to help students defray the costs associated with attending conferences to make presentations. 

The MS Clinical Psychology Program at Barry University prepares students to go into the world and to be successful professionals. 

Some of our graduates go into doctoral or other advanced degree programs before employment while others go directly into the profession.
